[ this logically should not be private but whatever. we're at the swamp during box surfacing time and he's going to be a pathetic little bitch about it because he saw someone who reached into that water come out with leeches and noooo fucking way.

so he goes to beg the tallest person around to do this for him, and the tallest person happens to be... this huge red woman, good god. okay. he feels less great about asking a woman to do this, but also, look at her. she's probably reached into plenty of swamps before, so he won't discriminate. ]

Um, excuse me! Do you think you could help me with that box over there? [ points to it, where it's bobbing around somewhere near the shore. ] I can't reach far enough...

[it's fine they can have a private swampfest. anyway, he's right, she's been in so many swamps and all of them have sucked, so she doesn't mind this one.

when he toddles over, she blinks a few times, and then gives him a grin.]

Oh, hey, sure. No worries, I got it. Which one is it again? [she's happy to help!! she's probably already in her default outfit, her box shut on the ground next to where she was sitting. the most notable thing about her is her chest is glowing a soft red, like a pulse.

she'll wade in to grab it. leeches do not bother her, her best friend is a leech.]

[ jesus how much of that outfit is just repurposed belts... he's also kind of ?? about the glowing pulse box, but. not at the top of his list of priorities right now! ]

Thanks, you're a lifesaver! [ trots along behind her and points it out more clearly from his safe leech-free spot on the swampbank (where shrek keeps his money) once they're closer to it. ]

[ puts us in a time loop so karlach and daan can both help him ruin rosie's life ]

[ well, todomatsu blew the shitty popsicle stand that is their haunted village and escaped to the new and improved area as soon as he learned of its existence, and now he's standing outside the cutest little house in the area and looking at it thoughtfully. ]

[adds rosie to my list of animal crossing characters that one of my large ginger fire women has destroyed]

[comes to find him!!! she's all sorts of anxious, jittering her way around to see where he ended up.]

[ he is at rosie's stolen house! and has taken a bath and is now in blood-free clothes, sitting on the bed up against the wall. the hot bath did nothing for his complexion; he's still pale and borderline grey.

he's got a bandage around the knuckles of one of his hands, and now that he's cleaned up and things are less hectic, she can notice that there are also a lot of paired puncture scars on his neck that weren't there yesterday, though they look like they've been healed for a long time? somehow? hm. ]

anyway, you can find karlach on the beach. she's slamming something into a tree over and over and over again. it looks like a piece of furniture or something. it doesn't matter what it is she's just beating the shit out of a tree.]

[ oof. honestly, though, valid. he doesn't have the energy for anything like that so he'll just sit down on the beach a little ways away and watch and smash things vicariously through her. ]

[ well. parts of that hit close to home in a way they sure wouldn't have a few days ago. todomatsu is not an empathetic person in the first place, and the way his reality has always worked — where almost everything is for the sake of a joke, and whatever real suffering they do go through is (mostly) erased by the next episode — this kind of pain would be so far beyond him he wouldn't know how to (or want to) touch it.

it's still far beyond him — years is much different than a couple of months, for one — but he actually has a frame of reference for some of this now. which kind of sucks, because it gives the shadows of those feelings a foothold to linger afterward. ]

[ for seeing that. he'd rather die than let anyone see his own raw emotions, and even if she's a much warmer and more open person than he is, he can't imagine not feeling uncomfortable with this.
